Of all the good reasons to have a baby at the New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center, peace of mind may be the best. For over one hundred years, the Department of Obstetrics at New NYPH/CUMC has shaped the future of women's health care.  From its humble beginnings as the Sloane Hospital for Women, a "lying-in" hospital for the poorest of women, it has become one of the finest obstetric and gynecological programs in the world.  Its dedicated and inspired physicians offer exceptional care in the specialized services often required by patients with high-risk pregnancies and deliveries.   In 2003, over 3,800 babies were delivered here.
The Department of Obstetrics at NYPH/CUMC  has the depth and breadth of expertise to meet the individual needs of your pregnancy from start to finish – from routine obstetrical procedures to the highest risk diagnostics and treatments.  With the opening of the Carmen and John Thain Labor and Delivery Unit in January 2004, the Hospital offers a comfortable, family-oriented setting, technologically equipped to handle any birthing situation. Benefits offered include:

Obstetrical services for both low and high risk pregnancies
Advanced technology for high-risk patients
